‘Our goal is to guarantee the country’s growth and a federal vision’

“I’m not the kind of politicians who seek votes promising things they will never do.”

The phrase belongs to Máximo Kirchner, lawmaker candidate for the Victory Front and son of president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

In an interview offered to ElPatagónico.com he referred to the people of Caleta Olivia Southern city saying he was surprised by “the will they have to improve themselves, to talk with political leaders, to ask what we can do.”

He rejected criticism from opposition leaders who question his lack of experience saying that he has been preparing for his political career. “It’s something natural because I grew up at a home where conversations about politics were usual during breakfast, lunch or dinner, although we also used to discuss about football and other everyday stuff.”

About the La Cámpora youth movement, he said “it’s a part of the Victory Front which nourishes itself with different movements such as Kolina, basic units and other small organizations, many times invisible to some hegemonic media.”

«It’s essential for us to constantly create and assume new challenges,” Kirchner continued, adding “like Cristina says, we must work to strengthen the people’s will and self-esteem.”

He blasted Clarín media Group saying it responds to a “journalistic oligarchy” and forget “there are other media across the country.” “They sometimes ignore what happens in the rest of Argentina, except when something goes wrong in Santa Cruz.”

«I understand them because they have been doing whatever they wanted during many years, until someone told them no, and I feel proud of belonging to this project,” Máximo Kirchner added.

He criticized PRO’s leader Mauricio Macri as he “shows himself as the leader of the consensus, of the dialogue, but then he mistreats anyone.”

“Kirchnerism is much more than my candidacy,” he stressed. “It’s the reaffirmation of the people’s rights, the egalitarian marriage, the maternity allowance, the reduction of unemployment to 6 percent, the growth of production sources, the economic independence, the payment to the IMF which was the greatest debt settlement the world has ever seen, the devolution of savings to Argentines taken away during Fernando de la Rúa’s government, among other aspects.”

“Our goal is to guarantee the country’s growth and a federal vision,” he concluded.
